YOU AND THE LAW

Pastor Cheri

Praise God!I believe you have been having a great time in God! We will be looking at the Law, the Law of Moses.Hallelujah! The Law came through Moses and was given to them as a guide to know what to do and not to do. It came as a schoolmaster to guide them until Jesus.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Galatians 3 verse 24.
Without the Law, the Israelites would sin without knowing. The Law brought the knowledge of sin. If you do not know what is right or wrong, you would do anything the way you like. When you have a guide to what is wrong or right, the information about what is wrong or right has come to you, you now become conscious of what you do, as a result of this new information. Now this does not make the Law evil. If you abide by the Law, all of it, you would still go to heaven. If you miss any part if it, you have missed everything, so you should follow everything. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, He is guilty of all. James 2 verse 10.
So the Law is not evil. It only brought the knowledge of sin. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Romans 7 verse 7.
This Law, the Law of Moses, is called the Law of sin and death. This Law leads to death. When you keep it, you live by it.
The Law as we read earlier, came as a schoolmaster but now we are no longer under a schoolmasterGalatians 3 verse 25 says,But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. This is because ... the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8 verse 2.You are no longer under the Law. You have been delivered from the Law, the Law of sin and death. This deliverance came when Jesus died.Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as He liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as He liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.Romans 7 verse 1 to 4
Jesus had to come and die for us to be delivered from the Law. When you write a will, it only becomes effective after the death of the one who wrote it. Then every other process follows. When Jesus died, his written will for us became effective.
And for this cause He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.Hebrews 9 verse 15 to 17
Now, we have inherited our inheritance. All that Jesus brought for us is ours. Hallelujah! We are no more under the Law.The Bible says in John 1 verse 17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. This is what Jesus brought for us. We are no more under the Law, but under grace. We take advantage of this grace in everything. We didn't qualify for it, Jesus qualified us for it. You qualified when you died, were buried and raised up together with Him. Hallelujah! If you sin, He defends you.The Bible says,My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2 verse 1 to 2. If you sin, all you just do is ask for forgiveness and keep moving. Praise God!Note the Word "if". You don't have to sin, sin is no longer in your nature, it was buried with the old man.Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and He cannot sin, because He is born of God. 1 John 3 verse 9.
If you are still sinning, then you are still a babe, so come up hither. Eat the Word and grow up. Hallelujah! This doesn't mean you should crucify anyone you see sinning around you, just help him grow up with the Word. Praise God!
Moses taught an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, but Jesus came to reveal the life and nature of God to us, the love way.
You should now, love like Jesus and demonstrate this love to others. When you follow the love way, you'll find yourself functioning in God, with the glory of God being revealed daily in your life.
Take advantage of all that Christ has brought to us. The Law had kept men in bondage this is the reason Jesus came, to help us live and function in the perfect law of liberty. He brought to us the Law of the Spirit of life which has made us free from the Law of sin and death. Romans 8 verse 2.
Living in this liberty is living in the will of God and functioning with the grace that Jesus has brought. Let your life reveal the glory and grace of God, as you live in the reality of what has been done for you through the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
Praise God!Lift up those and speak in tongues now!
