OUR DEAR SHEPHERD 2

Pastor Cheri

We continue today from where we stopped last Service.

Turn to Psalm 23:3. It says
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
He brings restoration to your soul. The soul is the centre of the mind will and emotions. This where He restores.

Then He says, "He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake." He leads you to do what is right with His Name at stake not yours. He puts His Name at stake here. There is no fear of making an error, it's His Name at stake. Hallelujah!
The Bible says,
"And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." Ezekiel 36:27.
So He will make you do what is right, He is the one leading you. He'll lead you to do what is right.

Verse 4
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalms 23:4.

There is no fear walking with the Shepherd, even when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, He is there with you. The Bible says in Isaiah 43:2,
"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
So He is there every step of the way, you should never be afraid of His presence not being there at any point in time for He is always there. He says, ...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20.
You can be rest assured that He'll never leave you nor forsake you. He is with you till the very end.

Some people have found themselves in hardships which they ought not to be experiencing because they haven’t recognized the presence of the Helper. He didn't come to leave some day, He didn't come for sometime.

When Jesus left the Holy Spirit with us, He didn't intend for the Holy Spirit to go back some day. He came to be with us forever.
"And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;" John 14:16.

When we get to heaven and you try to find out where the Holy Spirit is, the answer you will get is that, He is in you. He came to stay. So He is with you forever.

Never again should you worry about His presence being with you for He is there. As you go through that challenge, He is there with you and because He is there, you are rest assured of victory because He never fails. He is there to make you the winner. Hallelujah!

The other part says, "...thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
What does the shepherd use the rod and the staff for? To beat the sheep back in line. This is what our Shepherd does, He corrects us with the rod and the staff so we do not stray away, putting us back in line.

Sometimes you may miss it, at this time He uses the rod to put you back in line.

The Bible says,
For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is He whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Hebrews 12:6-8

You are not a son if you are without chastisement. So we must yield ourselves to the chastening of the Lord, so we can walk on the right part at all times. You cannot miss it as sa child of God when you are yielded to His leading.
"And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left." Isaiah 30:21.

He will lead you and correct you as long as you are yielded to Him. You can be rest assured of this.

Verse 5
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." Psalms 23:5
God wants your prosperity seen by all even your enemies, so He prepares your banquet before them. He anoints your head with oil. The other part says, "...my cup runneth over." That is full to overflowing, that is excessive surplus. It would have been nice and good enough if it was just full but He gave us an overflowing cup. The Bible says, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," Ephesians 3:20. Hallelujah!

He wants you living in excessive abundance, such that you have enough for yourself and those with you, you have enough to give out and also have more than enough left over. This is the kind of life God wants us living. A life full of riches to overflowing. Hallelujah!

Verse 6
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Psalms 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy are your escorts, they stay with you, abide with you, remain with you, every single day, as you consistently dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

What a Shepherd! our Dear Shepherd!
