PRAYER
The Word of God enters into our spirits today, building us up and making us what it talks about, in Jesus' Name. Amen
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
The word “wrestle” is the generic term for war, battle, fight, or struggle; letting us know that all of these have to do with our adversary.
Through the preaching of the Gospel, we deliver people from Satan’s dominion unto God. It’s warfare. So, you must be prepared. And thank God it’s a war in which we’re victorious. Christians who aren’t prepared easily get discouraged or even knocked out, because they didn’t realize that soul winning is war. You can’t win souls without warring in intercession. If you’re going to lead many to Christ, evangelizing your world in a remarkable way, you’d have to labor in intercession.
It reveals the spirituality of this warfare. We have an adversary—Satan. The Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist stedfast in the faith…” 1 Peter 5:8-9
The devil is all out to oppose the Gospel and God’s children. But in prayer, you effectively destroy Satan’s stronghold in men’s hearts and his stratagems and machinations against you and your work as a preacher of righteousness. So, pray always in the spirit for those you’re planning to reach with the Gospel.
WHO DO WE INTERCEDE FOR?
1. The Unsaved/the Sinners
2. The Young Converts/Young Believers
3. Christians who have Strayed Away
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
This is why you must pray intensely for sinners to be delivered from the power of Satan into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Agonize for them in prayer. This is a priority in warring a good warfar 1 Timothy 2:1-2.
“My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.” Galatians 4:19.
Paul showed in the above scriptures how he prayed for those who were young (immature) in the faith. He prayed that they would grow in the things of God (Christ)
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Colossians 4:12.
The Apostle Paul knew how to agonize in prayer for the souls of men. He understood the principles of prevailing prayer—soul travail. For example, in 1 Corinthians 15:32, he said, “…I have fought with beasts at Ephesus….” There, he was talking about something that happened in the spirit. It was a spiritual warfare.
Today, we will be praying for the unsaved, the babes in Christ and brethren you may have strayed. Through our prayers many will be won to the kingdom, many restored to the faith and standing strong in the work of the ministry.
